# Keep the widget up to date

Subbly hosts the widget at `https://assets.subbly.co/cart/cart-widget.js` and
updates it there. Because the loader is never cached, every page load picks up
the current release. You do not install updates, and the hosted URL carries no
version to pin.

## Self-host the widget

If you must control the version yourself, self-host the widget. Subbly users
can build it from the source: set `VITE_BASE_URL` to the URL you host it at,
run the build, copy the `dist` folder to any static host, and point the script
tag at your own `cart-widget.js`. Keep the same caching rule: never cache the
loader, cache `assets/` for a long time.
