Plans and limits

Your Subbly plan decides what a connected app can do. You do not pick permissions when you connect: Subbly checks the plan on every call. An upgrade or a downgrade applies on the next call, and you never need to connect again.

What each plan opens

The tools fall into three areas.

AreaWhat it coversSubbly XEvery other plan
Store setupProducts, variants, plans, bundles, collections, coupons, inventory, metafields, surveys, funnels, options, tags, countriesYesYes
Running the businessCustomers, addresses, payment methods, pickup info, subscriptions, cancellation reasons, invoices, orders, transactionsYesNo
WebhooksWebhook endpoints, events and deliveriesYesNo

“Every other plan” includes trials. A shop on the Freeze plan reaches no tools. The Tools page lists every tool under its area.

Limits by resource

Inside an area, some fields need a plan feature. The current plans are Subbly, Subbly AI, Max and Subbly for $1/wk. Older shops may still be on a legacy plan: Lite, Basic, the old Subbly plan or Advanced.

Only Subbly X can put more than one subscription product on one subscription, with create_subscription or create_subscription_item.

When a tool is outside your plan

A tool in a closed area fails with a message like this one:

Code
This action needs the Subbly X plan. The shop is on the Max plan. Upgrade at https://www.subbly.co/admin/plans.

A field that needs a plan feature fails with a message that names the feature, for example “The gift cards feature is not available on your current plan.”

In both cases nothing changes in the shop. The agent reads the message and can tell you which plan you need.

Who can connect

  • The shop owner, or a user with the admin role. Other roles cannot.
  • The shop has an active Subbly subscription.
  • You are not signed in to the shop from the Subbly admin as a superadmin.

The app acts for the whole shop within the plan's areas, whoever connected it. Each person has one connection per app; connecting again replaces the old one. See Security and access.

Rate limits

LimitValue
Private API calls per shop300 per minute, shared by every app and integration on the shop
Subscription changesOne at a time per shop: pause, resume, skip, cancel, reactivate, switch plan, change plans and item plan or variant changes
Webhook delivery retries60 per minute per shop
MCP serverIts own cap per connection

A call over a limit fails with Too Many Attempts. Wait a minute and try again. For many changes, ask the agent to work one record at a time.

Size limits

  • Lists. A list tool returns up to 100 records per page. The agent pages through larger sets. A filter, such as a date range or a status, keeps answers short and fast.
  • Batch tools. One call to batch_variants creates up to 100 variants. One call to batch_bundle_items creates up to 200 bundle items.
  • Lookups. list_customers takes up to 100 IDs or emails per call.

Sessions

  • The app stays signed in by itself. It refreshes its access every hour.
  • If you do not use the app for 30 days, it must connect again.
  • Disconnecting the app in Settings › Connected apps ends its access at once.
